Qualification and Experience
Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu, regarded as one of the world’s top spine surgeons, began his specialty training in the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department at Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1979. He became a specialist in 1983 and was promoted to associate professor in 1989 and professor in 1996. He has more than 36 years of experience in advanced spine surgery.
Until 2004, he served in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. He completed two years of training at the Minnesota Spine Surgery Center in the United States, one of the world’s leading centers for spine surgery. In 1991, he continued his spine surgery education at the University of Hokkaido in Japan.
After 2003, the first dedicated spine surgery center in Turkey was established at Florence Nightingale Hospital. Dr. Azmi Hamzaoğlu, as the Chief of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department, founded the “Istanbul Scoliosis and Spine Center,” where he leads a team of forty specialists. He has also performed training surgeries abroad for complex and challenging cases.
