Assoc. Prof. Dr. Görkem Türkkan is a Radiation Oncology Specialist with 13 years of comprehensive experience integrating clinical practice, academic research, and medical education. He began his medical training in 2003 at Gülhane Military Medical Academy and completed his medical degree in 2009 at Zonguldak Karaelmas (Bülent Ecevit) University Faculty of Medicine. He subsequently pursued specialization in Radiation Oncology at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine, where he became a certified specialist in 2016.

Dr. Türkkan has held several distinguished academic and clinical positions. Between May 2019 and February 2021, he served as Doctor Lecturer and Head of the Radiation Oncology Department at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Medicine. In 2020, he further advanced his expertise through clinical research at the Maastricht University Medical Center – MAASTRO Clinic in the Netherlands, focusing on stereotactic radiotherapy, thoracic radiation therapy–related lung toxicity, and proton therapy. From March 2021 to April 2023, he continued his academic and clinical contributions at Istinye University Faculty of Medicine and the Radiation Oncology Clinic of Liv Hospital Ulus.

In February 2023, he achieved the academic title of Associate Professor. He is highly proficient in both conventional and advanced radiotherapy modalities, with specialised expertise in stereotactic radiotherapy and MRI-guided radiotherapy (MR-Linac). He has independently performed more than 2,500 MR-Linac treatments, demonstrating significant experience with adaptive and precision-guided radiotherapy technologies.

Dr. Türkkan’s academic contributions include 27 published scientific articles in national and international journals, 31 oral and poster presentations at professional congresses, and authorship of 5 book chapters in recognized publications. He is currently contributing to two active TÜBİTAK-supported research projects, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing radiation oncology through scientific inquiry.
